Kirsten Dunst weighs in on a possible return as Mary Jane to Spider-Man: There is no way home

Kirsten Dunst weighs in on a possible return as Mary Jane to Spider-Man: There is no way home

"I'd be old MJ here with little Spidey baby."

Kirsten Dunst, part of one of cinematic history's most famous kisses that has been studied and idolized for many years, says she won't be appearing in the "Spider-Man: No Way Home 2" sequel. However, she would be happy to reprise her role as Mary Jane Watson.

She may also be lying. Marvel films (and all superhero films) are known for being secretive about casting twists and turns, and Dunst wouldn’t be the first person to lie about their involvement with a MCU project.

Although she might not be in the film, we aren't sure. However, it is confirmed that Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus will be appearing alongside her Spidey (Tobey Maguire).

Fans love a crossover so if there is any plan for a "No Way Home 2", or live-action, "Into the Spider-Verse," Dunst will be available to play Spidey's love interests at any moment. "I would do it. Why not? It would be fun," Dunst said to Variety at the premier screening of her new film, "The Power of the Dog."

She said, "I wouldn't say no to something similar," before joking that she would be old MJ with her little Spidey babies.

Dunst, now 39, has two children. When the original Spider-Man was released in theaters, she had just turned twenty. She would continue to star opposite Maguire in two sequels until 2007.

Other Maguire/Dunst-era villains who could appear alongside Molina's Doctor Octopus include James Franco's "New" Goblin and Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman, as well as Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin and Topher Grace’s Venom. But that last one is unnecessary!

Green Goblin is expected in "No Way Home", but it hasn't been revealed who will be wearing the mask.

Also, the film features at least one villain, Andrew Garfield's "Amazing" wall-crawler Jamie Foxx' Electro. So it could be Dane DeHaan who played Harry Osborn/Green Golbin, in "Amazing 2."

This opens up the possibility of Rhys Ifan’s Lizard and Paul Giamatti’s Rhino as well as additional Gwen Stacy versions (Bryce Dallas Howard and Emma Stone in "Amazing" films). Shailene Woodley also shot "Amazing" footage for MJ but it didn't make the final cut.

Zendaya's MJ will get to meet any of her colleagues? Will Tom Holland play Spidey? We doubt that the trailers will spoil everything so fans will have to wait until "Spider-Man: No Way Home", which hits theaters December 17.
