"Only for a second time in my career, am I the new face comedy!" The Tonight Show legend laughed.

Jay Leno will be taking Jay Leno's "brand-new look" on a ride.

The 72-year-old veteran talk show host spoke out about his experience with reconstructive surgery after suffering third-degree burns from an accident fire in his garage.

Leno was working in his Burbank garage in November 2022 when his face was suddenly doused with gasoline as he worked on the fuel line for one of his cars.

Leno, who had suffered burns to his chest, face and hands, spent nine days at West Hills Hospital's Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles. There, doctors had to treat his wounds.

The comedian joked that he was once again the "new face of comedy" for the second consecutive time in his career. He also showed off his remarkable recovery.

It's amazing. He laughed and explained that it happened because he was working on a car. His face was full of gasoline, and it lit up. "I had been enjoying a Flamin Hot Dorito, and it lit my face on fire when I bit into it!"

Leno said, "No, no, but it was interesting," It was terrible because it had all been third-degrees. It was very bad.

Kelly Clarkson, host, commented on the fact that doctors could revive his skin. He replied, "You'd assume I would have a zip [on my forehead] now,"

"I am the new face in comedy, but only for the second time in the course of my career!" It was once in the 1980s. Now it's back! It's like a new ear! Leno said.

Leno and Dave Killackey, his friend at the time of the accident, recalled the moment on "Today" in December.

Killackey said to Hoda Kotb he couldn't see Leno's face during the accident. He added that although he downplays it all, I can tell you that he was truly engulfed. It was like a wall of fire."

He said, "I just grabbed him," and jumped into action. He was right under the car. I grabbed his head and pulled him into my chest.

Leno joked that he thought it was a bad Tinder date, and chimed in. "I thought, "What's the deal?"
