Kelly Clarkson on Why Talk Show Is Moving to New York, '100 Percent' Her Idea

Kelly Clarkson on Why Talk Show Is Moving to New York, '100 Percent' Her Idea

Kelly Clarkson, after four seasons in Los Angeles with her daytime talk show of the same name, has announced that she is moving to New York City.

The Kelly Clarkson Show has been a huge daytime success for the past four years. However, the production will undergo a major shift in Season 5, as it is moving coasts.

The news that "Voice Coach"'s gabber, the eponymous "American Idol", was moving from Los Angeles to New York City was shocking. Clarkson has clarified the reasons for the move and who was responsible.

Clarkson revealed to Nancy O'Dell, on TalkShopLive, that she had told her crew about the move in January. She said that either she would quit or the show would be moved.

"I have created such an amazing team of people." Clarkson, according to Today, said that we've had a lot of success and she loves everyone with whom she works.

"I called them to let them know that I needed to tell you what was happening. Either I can't continue the show, or I have to go to East Coast.

Clarkson explained that the change was all about family. She said that the Covid shutdowns leave people "isolated" and "so far away from their family." This is "nothing good for anyone." She was also affected by the closure, since her family lives on the East Coast.

Clarkson said, "They are based in North Carolina so I had to do it." Clarkson said, "There were also a number of personal issues that I felt needed to be addressed. I wanted a new start for my family, myself and my children, and I could not find it here."

Clarkson likely was referring to the bitter divorce she had with Brandon Blackstock, after almost seven years of marriage. The divorce began in June of 2020, but the couple did not reach a settlement almost two years after that date.

The pop singer said that it was her decision "100%" and thanked the network for working with her to make such a major change in an area that was already performing extremely well.

"I said, "Y'all, I love doing this." I love it. Clarkson said, "I didn't know I would, but I was like 'I've got to make a difference for me and my families'." "I said, 'Any chance we could do this? I know we couldn't do it from my ranch. So any chance we could do it in New York which is at the very least closer to my families'."

Clarkson may also be able to benefit from this, or it could just be a way of getting her closer towards Broadway. She said that she doesn't enjoy acting in TV and movies, but loves stage work. She shared that she never imagined she would get the chance to perform on a big stage.

Clarkson's connection to "The Voice" is something she hasn't addressed. Clarkson was a regular coach on "The Voice" before taking a break for the Fall 2022. She was back for the most recent season, but is now off for the next one. Is she really gone after moving to NYC?

The fact that "The Kelly Clarkson Show", a talk show based in New York, is now on the air, is not entirely new. In its first two seasons, it aired a series of special episodes set in New York.

This move comes also after allegations were made that the staff was "overworked", "underpaid" and in a "toxic work environment." The Rolling Stone article from earlier this month did not mention Clarkson by name.

Clarkson responded by posting a response to her Instagram. "In my 20-year career in the entertainment business, I have always followed my heart and done what I thought was right." "I love the team at The Kelly Clarkson Show, and it is unacceptable to learn that someone is feeling disrespected or unheard on this show."

The Hollywood Reporter received a statement from her that clearly reflects this sentiment as she prepares for the move. She added that "she is more committed than ever" to ensure that both the team moving and the new team in NY are the best in the industry.

Clarkson will be included in the leadership training. The start date of the new season has not been confirmed yet, but "The Kelly Clarkson Show", which traditionally begins its new seasons in early September, is still to be announced. This could change due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike.
