Lisa Guerrero Reveals She Had Miscarriage on Live TV During Monday Night Football

"I persevered and completed my reports. The former sports reporter recalls feeling a dampness in my legs. "I could feel blood leaking."

Lisa Guerrero, a former soldier who kept the painful story secret for almost 20 years, has now published her memoir, "Warrior:My Path to Being Brave."

Before Guerrero was named Inside Edition's Chief Investigative Editor, she worked briefly as a sports reporter on Monday Night Football during the 2003-2004 season.

People spoke to the now-famous journalist about her forthcoming book. She admitted that she wanted to be "the Barbara Walters of sports."

She said, "I was doing big sit-down interviews [with tough, tough athletes] -- Barry Bonds and Shaquille O’Neal, Alex Rodriguez -- but they weren't very open to the media -- and they were opening themselves up to me."

Guerrero said Guerrero was the target of radio sports-show men who wanted to be Howard Stern. They made demeaning comments about Guerrero's body and implied that her "sexual acts" were a part of how "I probably was able get all these major athletes to talk to my."

It got worse when she was a sideline reporter on Monday Night Football.

Guerrero was quickly fired from MNF because of this environment. She has now disclosed that she had a miscarriage in late season, when she was between 8-12 weeks pregnant.

She shared an excerpt with People that she had prepared. She explained how she lost the game while reporting live.

She recalled, "I persevered and completed my reports." "When I felt a dampness in my legs, I thought that I had my period. Then I realized I was pregnant. It was a miscarriage. "I could feel the blood leaking."

Then, she tried to use the bathroom but was stopped by an attendant who said "They're going to throw you."

She said that she would not go to the toilet immediately and instead, she would give her live report. I felt dizzy and nauseated, but tried to remember to get up.

Guerrero stated that the pain was "excruciating." "I mispronounced a player's name, and I knew that I would hear more about it later. After I was done, I raced to interview a coach. I then went to the bathroom. As I sat down on the toilet, I was shocked at the amount of blood that was coming out of my body. It had penetrated my pants. I stuffed a lot of paper towels into my underwear."

She resumed her sideline reporting duties.
