Many people struggle with a positive body image, even celebrities. Lisa Kudrow is an example of this. Famous for her role as Phoebe Buffay in Friends, the actress had issues with her body image when she was a star on the TV series. The actress, now 59 years old has come to terms with her body and revealed recently how her age has improved her body image.
Kudrow was a strong woman before she starred in Friends. When she started working with Courtney Cox and Jennifer Aniston, Kudrow began to feel insecure. Kudrow spoke out about how she was always thin until the time she started to fit into classic shows' wardrobes.
Kudrow believed she was thin even as a child just like her father and sister. Kudrow was actually heavier than she thought, but photographs showed that Kudrow didn't believe them. Kudrow thought, "Wow!" Pictures can distort reality.
Kudrow realized that Phoebe didn't look the way she believed she did when she started playing the role. She said, "It wasn’t until friends that my realization, 'Oh! I don't really look like I thought,' was what struck me the most."
Comparison Trap
The award-winning actress was comparing herself to her costars, which eventually led to body insecurities. Kudrow said that she was simply seeing herself on the show, seeing Courtney and Jennifer dressed up in clothes. "I thought at first, 'Oh, they understand tailoring so they could discuss it with costume designers about where to take something in.'

Kudrow quickly realized that it wasn’t just the tailoring that made a difference. Kudrow discovered her body was much larger than she thought. The actress admitted that she was not overweight. I wasn't. I didn't know the actual shape of my body."
Although she struggled at the time with her body image, the Friends star was able to accept her own body as she grew older. Kudrow said that she realized something about her body in her late 30s, 40s, or later. "This is how I look."
Kudrow doesn't care about her body size. She just wants to be healthy. The celebrity said, "Do what it takes to be healthy, but this is your body and that's okay." This sentiment is great for everyone!
