After 25 years of a failed Superman film with Tim Burton, the one and only Nicolas Cage finally dons his red cape.

Andy Muschietti, the director of "The Flash", revealed to Esquire Middle East in an interview that he revived Cage's abandoned portrayal of the sons Krypton.

Cage is a cameo in the highly anticipated film. His portrayal of a beloved DC character has never been seen on screen.

Muschietti said that "Nic was absolutely fantastic". "Despite the cameo role, he embraced it. I have dreamed of working with him my entire life. "I hope to work with him soon."

The director said, "He's a huge Superman fan." "A comic-book fanatic."

Cage's admiration for the alien superhero has become legendary. Not only did the actor sign up for Burton's "Superman Lives", which was a failed project, but he also named one of sons Kal El -- Superman Kryptonian given name.

Burton's "Superman Lives," a comic-fanatic Kevin Smith, featured the Doomsday plotline. Burton's 1998 attempt to create the iconic superhero followed his launch of the Batman franchise with Warner Bros. The reason it was cancelled is a complicated story but was due to the competing visions for what the final product would be, and the rising costs as new directors and talent were attached. Burton left to work on 1999's "Sleepy Hollow".

Cage said in a Variety interview that his long-dead Superman project was "more of an 1980s Superman, with the like, samurai hair." "I thought it would be a different, sort-of emo Superman but we never got to that."

He also said to the outlet for the rival Marvel Cinematic Universe: "I don't have to be part of the MCU. I am Nic Cage."

"The Flash", a new movie, will be released on June 16th.
