Man Accused of Injecting 'Chemical Agent' Under Neighbor's Door Caught on Hidden Camera Footage

Man Accused of Injecting 'Chemical Agent' Under Neighbor's Door Caught on Hidden Camera Footage

Umar Abdullah was horrified by the results of a hidden video camera he installed outside his front door after smelling strange odors and hearing his neighbor complain about noise.

A Florida man, who had just completed his PhD in chemistry, is accused of injecting "chemical agents" under the front door to his neighbor's apartment.

Umar Abdullah told FOX13 Tampa Bay that he started receiving complaints about noise from his neighbor, Xuming Li after the birth his daughter in 2022. He said that the complaints could be about anything, from drawers closing to footsteps. Texts viewed by WFLA allegedly also showed Li saying he couldn't fall asleep and "heard the toilet seat moving."

According to Abdullah, the mysterious smell in his apartment began after his complaints. His eyes began to burn, and his daughter started coughing and vomiting. He described the smell as "obnoxious", worse than nail polish remover. Abdullah tried to find the source of the smell in their apartment. He replaced the water heater and called the fire department, but to no avail.

He noticed that his doorway had a crack and decided to hide a camera in the plant outside his apartment. After his daughter fell sick again, he checked the video.

Abdullah, a FOX reporter, said: "I installed a concealed camera outside because I suspected someone was tampering with our home from the outside. Then we caught our neighbour injecting something into our door." "On June 27, i found out that our neighbor was coming with a needle, pulling something from the vial and injecting it through our door," Abdullah told FOX.

Abdullah's video shared with the outlet seems to confirm this. View the raw footage by clicking here.

He told FOX that if they hadn't found the video, "we might have all been dead in a matter of days." He also told WFLA that he and his wife "were trembling" when the discovery was made. "We can't believe that he would come and do something," he said.

Abdullah called the police and Li was arrested on June 27. He was released shortly thereafter. Since then, he has been charged on multiple counts of battery and possessing a controlled substance. Li's lawyer told WFLA he had pleaded not guilty, and that "all facts would come out in time."

FOX reported that Li had been a PhD student in chemistry at USF but they said he is no longer enrolled. WFLA, citing an affidavit from the Tampa Police Department, reported that a hazmat testing revealed that the liquid "chemical" agent contained both methadone, and hydrocodone.

Abdullah said to FOX that "people who use their extreme knowledge and knowledge of the world in order to harm others could be more dangerous." "I cannot expect my neighbor to be prepared for this to happen." I wish that no one would ever have to experience a situation such as this in their lives.
