The man breaks the front door and attacks his roommates before he emerges from the car that has been flipped over. There are children inside.
On Monday, a man with a pickaxe terrorized a neighborhood in Southern California.
The suspect has not been named by law enforcement, but he was caught on CCTV cameras crashing his Kia into a home in Lake Forest, Orange County, and then going wild.
The car ended up on its side, with two wheels sticking out from the house (see picture above). The owner was in the garage with his children.
Orange County Sheriff's Department reports that the unnamed man who was a temporary resident of the house grabbed an adjacent pickaxe for landscaping, and started chasing people.
Eric Li told local media that he had rented the room to a man 10 days earlier.
The video shows a man slamming the front door open with his shoulder.
He then grabbed the axe, chased his roommate through the house and broke down the door to another resident's bedroom with it.
The roommate, who requested that NBC Los Angeles not identify the man, said: "I can see my door beginning to buckle as he hits it." He was using a pick-axe that he had acquired in my garden to try and break into my bedroom. At first, as I held the door open, I tried to reason with him. "Trying to calm him down."
"He kept coming at my face. The resident said that it was getting scarier.

Mr. Li, the owner, remembered thinking that he would die when the man chased after him with the pickaxe.
I said to her, "Please calm down. Li told ABC7 Eyewitness News, "Tell me what happened." "You know, I never got an answer, but he chased me. My parents grow a lot vegetables in their backyard. They have many tools.
He told a local news outlet that he believed he was "dead." He was able, however, to escape the situation and dial 9-1-1.
Li claimed to have seen the man chase one of his neighbors. Another witness reported that the suspect chased an employee in the area.
"We were working inside and the gardener ran up in panic and said that someone was chasing him on foot with an ax. We heard screaming, yelling, and shouting at the house. It sounded as if someone was being tortured," Andy Lopez told ABC7.
Deputies from the Orange County Sheriff's Department arrested the man. The man was treated for injuries resulting from the accident and booked into jail.
"There was a lot of yelling, and screaming. The police entered, pulled their guns out and we heard about five gunshots. Lopez said, "I think they used non-lethal ammunition." When they brought out the suspect, he was quite bloody.
