The Prince Harry interview train is moving at full speed ahead. On Monday, he appeared on Good Morning America to discuss the royal rift between him and his family.

Harry and Meghan Markle made public their decision to retire as working royals in February 2021. Harry spoke with Michael Strahan and said that the Queen Elizabeth II didn't surprise him. He also shared her reaction.

He claimed that he had spoken to her many times in the U.K., as well as in the lead-up to this change. "It was never surprising to anyone, not even her." She knew exactly what was happening. It was hard. It is not clear if she could have changed it.

He said that he did not believe that she was upset about her choice but rather "sad" about it.

He also spoke out about his relationship with Queen Consort Camilla in the same interview. After previously accusing her, he wrote that he had "complex feelings about gaining stepparent, whom I thought had just sacrificed me on her PR altar."

"I feel a lot of compassion for her because she is the third person in my parents' marriage. Harry stated on GMA that she had to deal with a bad reputation or a damaged image. She was also able to make deals and trades that were right from the beginning. "And while I have no problem with any member in my family needing their image to be rehabilitated, I do not support the rehabilitation of my girlfriend or my extended family, my close family, or my larger family.

Harry stated that he and his stepmother have not spoken in a while. "I love all my family members, regardless of the differences or difficulties that those relationships have caused, I guess. We are always happy together when I see her."

"She is my stepmother. She is not my evil stepmother. I see someone who got married into this institution or became involved with it, and I can understand why," said he. He added that he can forgive her for leaking information about his family but that it must stop.

Harry also shared why he believes his new book "Spare" will not make matters worse for his family, telling GMA that "as far i see it, there was no greater divide before this book."

He said, "If we can reach the point of reconciliation it will have a ripple impact across the globe." "I believe that and that is what drives me. It's very disappointing if this doesn't happen.

Don't be surprised if Harry and his family return to the UK as working royals.

Harry referred to UK tabloids, saying that even if there were an agreement between me and my family there would be a third party who would do anything to ensure that it wasn't possible. "We are not stopping us from going back, but that makes it impossible to survive, and that is really breaking our relationship."

He said, "If there were something in the future that we could continue to support Commonwealth, that's of course on table." However, he added, "But there's so many things that need to happen between now, and then, and so many that can happen."
