RFK Jr. Plotted Fake Split from Cheryl Hines Amid Backlash for Controversial Anti-Vax Comments

RFK Jr. Plotted Fake Split from Cheryl Hines Amid Backlash for Controversial Anti-Vax Comments

Larry David, who set up the two -- makes it clear that he doesn't "support" RFK Jr.'s presidential campaign.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is the candidate for the presidency, but his wife -- the star of "Curb Your Enthusiasm," Cheryl Hines - feels the heat over some of his incendiary remarks.

Hines, in her first interview after he announced that he would be running for the Democratic nomination was asked about her anti-vax beliefs and if they had affected her professional life. Kennedy revealed how far he would go to keep his other half out of controversy.

"I support Bobby, and I'm there for him. I want him feel loved and supported," she said, in a New York Times profile, after having to describe some of his remarks as "reprehensible" and "insensitive" in January.

Kennedy compared the policies implemented to combat the pandemic with Nazi Germany. He even implied that those who faced persecution by the Nazis would have better options today than anti-vaxxers.

Even in Hitler's Germany you could cross the Alps to Switzerland and hide in your attic, like Anne Frank. In 1962, I visited East Germany with my dad and met people who had escaped by climbing the wall. It was not easy, and many died.

Kennedy told NYT that things were so bad at the time for the couple, he was considering a fake separation to minimize the damage done towards Hines.

He claimed that he told her that announcing their separation would give her some distance. "We wouldn’t be doing anything. We would just -- I was so desperate to protect her when my statements and decisions were affecting her."

Hines claimed that she had never considered the release he wrote about separation. It was frustrating to hear Bobby make comments that were so easily misconstrued and did not represent his true character.

"I can see both sides to the vaccine issue. One side is afraid if it doesn't receive the vaccine. The other side is scared if it does, as they are unsure if the vaccination will be safe. "I understand it," she replied. If Bobby stands up and says, "Well, are you sure they're safe, and have all vaccines been properly tested? It doesn't sound unreasonable to ask that.

Kennedy claimed that Hines lost her job because she supported his candidacy. She said this wasn't the case.

She added that there had been a discussion on how his campaign might impact what we were doing, but the issue was resolved. Kennedy also said he felt "a great deal of love and support" from her friends.

David, the man who introduced them and created "Curb Your Enthusiasm," felt it necessary, however, to clarify over text: "Yes, love and support. But I'm not "supporting" him."
