Rob Lowe is well aware that parenthood has many phases. Lowe has been through all phases of parenthood with his children, including the toddler, tween and teen years. Lowe now has full-fledged adult children and is realizing that the job of parenting does not end after your child graduates college.

Lowe spoke out about his children, who now work as adults in a recent interview with People. Lowe, 58, has two sons, Matthew, 30 and John Owen, 28, which he shares with his wife Sheryl Berkoff. This stage of parenthood is different for the actor than any other he has ever experienced.

Lowe said that "they finish college and now they're at another level of parenting." It's real life. What's it going to look like if you go to work and get a job?

"A Whole Other Level of Parenting"

Lowe's youngest child, John Owen, sees it as working alongside his dad. John Owen, his dad, is currently filming a Netflix series called Unstable. They even play father-son roles on the show.

Lowe said that Lowe's father is "very successful" and "touched with genius but perhaps a little untethered." Owen plays his son. The actor shared that the show shows "how difficult it is to discover your identity with that kind presence in your life."

The premise may seem a bit familiar to the actor at 28 years old, but it's not. The entire series was inspired in part by Lowe's father-son relationship with John Owen via social media.

John Owen Lowe (@johnnylowe), shared this post.

Lowe said, "He loves trolling" me on social media. We decided to explore the idea as a TV show because people were so keen on it. We came up with a funny and benevolent take on a father who is a narcissist. He means well.

Lowe says that working with his son was an eye-opening experience. The celebrity said that he sometimes forgets that he is his son while they are shooting. "It was an amazing experience for me, and it was quite a surprise to discover that I felt like I was working with a peer. He's the best partner I could have in this endeavor.

We're excited to see the father-son duo in Unstable as the star continues to enjoy parenthood.
