According to police, Calogero Duenes (24 years old) was shot dead in the parking lot at Chuck E. Cheese in Humble Friday night after he brought in the birthday cake.

Amber Uresti, his widow, said that they had just gotten off and she had taken my daughters off. She was going to stamp them and prepare them for their father's arrival.

"He ran in, and he was screaming, ‘I got shot,’ he said. He ran behind me and my daughters followed him. They saw him lying on the ground," she stated.

"I haven't seen my husband since he was up on the floor. They wouldn't allow me to go with them. I didn't get to spend the final moments of his life with him."

According to investigators, Duenes was moving across the parking lot and encountered Duenes' young driver in Ford. They exchanged words before Duenes pulled out a gun and opened fire.

Uresti stated, "I don’t understand how someone could do that to somebody like that." "He was carrying a cake on his back."

"I hope he is located quickly to ensure the safety of the community, because if this happened to my husband, I mean to imagine that he could do it to any other person, a child or anybody."

Uresti also had a three year-old daughter with Duenes. He was described as a loving, caring father and husband. His high school class was dominated by him.

Rosemarie, Uresti's sister, said that the driver of the vehicle tried to run Duenes over before shooting him.

"Our whole family is devastated by this tragedy. She wrote that he left behind two baby girls in a GoFundMe post. "This is not the way we had hoped to start the New Year."
