If you are a fan of the royal family, you will know Queen Elizabeth is passionate about horses. The Queen has been riding horses and caring for them her whole life. Recently, Queen Elizabeth had to stop riding her horses.

Long History of Queen Elizabeth and Horses

The Queen has always had a love for horses throughout her entire life. When she was just four years old, Queen Elizabeth received her first horse, a Shetland pony. The monarch was always involved in horses after that. The Queen, for example, attends every year the Windsor Horse Show and is involved in horse racing.

The Queen loves to ride horses casually and enjoys watching horse races and other shows. It seems that Queen Elizabeth also passed her love for horses on to other royals. The Olympics' equestrian events saw the participation of Princess Anne, the Queen's granddaughter, and Zara Tindall, her granddaughter.

Queen Elizabeth Did Riding Horses?

The Sun reports that Queen Elizabeth hasn’t ridden her horses in over a year since her summer vacation at Balmoral, Scotland's Balmoral estate. According to royal sources, Queen Elizabeth was "in quite a lot of discomfort" when she stopped riding. According to a source, "She loves riding and it has been part her routine for most of her lifetime." The royal insider said that Queen Elizabeth was "extremely disappointed" not to ride since September's beginning.

However, Queen Elizabeth is not giving up on riding horses for a while. According to an insider, Queen Elizabeth is trying her best to get back in the saddle soon. According to royal sources, Queen Elizabeth has been resting since her recent health problems.

Recent Health Struggles of Queen Elizabeth

Last week, Queen Elizabeth was seen using a cane during several outings. Shortly thereafter, her doctors advised that rest was better. Sources revealed that the Queen had spent the night in hospital the day before.

A palace statement stated that the Queen had been advised by doctors to rest for a few more days. She returned to Windsor Castle today at noon, and is still in good spirits. Palace sources confirmed that Queen Elizabeth was able to resume her royal duties on Tuesday morning. However, she will still require light activity and rest for a few days.
