Ron Cephas Jones passed away after a long-standing pulmonary problem. He was best known for his role as William Hill, the birth father of Sterling K. Brown’s Randall Pearson in NBC’s This Is Us.

This is Us stars are mourning the passing of Ron Cephas-Jones. Jones was a beloved actor, who achieved his career peak as William Hill in the NBC show, earning two Emmys.

Cephas’ representative said that anyone who was fortunate enough to have known him felt his warmth, beauty and generosity.

Jones has been suffering from chronic pulmonary diseases for many years, according to The New York Times. He claimed he had resisted the recommendation for a lung-transplant until after an incident that occurred on the set of This Is Us led to his having to be revived in 2017.

The Times reported that his passion for performing was what motivated him to recover. His daughter Hamilton actress Jasmine Cephas Jones is his only surviving child.

Jones has also appeared in Mr. Robot, The Get Down and Luke Cage are among his film credits. Jones is also an accomplished stage actor, having appeared in Richard II Prometheus Bound and, most recently, Clyde's for which he was nominated at the Tony Awards.

Sterling K. Brown who played William Hill's child on This is Us was one of the stars from the show who paid tributes to Jones. He said, "Today life imitated the art of one of the greatest people in history. She is no longer among us." "Brother you are loved. You will be missed. "Keep them laughing and I'll be there when I arrive."

Mandy Moore who played family matriarch Rebecca Pearson -- and shared scenes in multiple eras with Jones -- took to Instagram. Ron was a pure artist and human. I will cherish all the moments.

She continued, "Even though we wished he would be around more, he is such a vital part of the show that it feels like he's always been there." I'll never forget the special experience of filming this episode, and welcoming him back to say goodbye to our TIU Family and to the entire experience. I'm just so sad. "My thoughts and love go out to Jasmine, his family, and friends."

Chrissy metz said that he "brightened every room" and she would never forget "his kind heart, amazing spirits, immeasurable talents and beautiful smile."

Dan Fogelman, creator of This is Us, called it a "massive loss" and said that Cephas was "the best of the very best on screen, stage, and real life." The coolest. The easiest way to laugh and hang out. What an actor! "I don't believe I changed a single cut of his take... because everything he performed was perfect."

Jones, who continues to star on This Is Us alongside Octavia, Kate Hudson and Aaron Paul as well as Lizzy Kaplan among others, has also taken on a starring part in the Apple TV+ show Truth Be Told.

Spencer shared on Instagram that she is "heartbroken" at the loss of her dear friend and co-worker Ron Cephas Jones. Ron was a talented actor, but most importantly he was a wonderful human being.

Hudson expressed her feelings in her Instagram Stories to The Hollywood Reporter. She wrote, "So sorry to hear Ron passed away." I enjoyed working with him so much on Truth Be Told. He was passionate about his work and his craft, as well as being available to everyone. We shared some beautiful scenes and I will never forget his generosity. "Send love to his family."

Uzo Adua performed with Jones on stage in Clyde’s between 2021 and 2022. He was described as "magical"and "powerful." She continued to write: "So loved by our community and a genius in his craft, he would be sharing his wisdom and knowledge on this art that we all deeply, deeply love." He shared his heart with us, but that was not all. Generously. Ron was a great teacher. We continue to learn from him. This knowledge helps me to know that he will always be with us. forever."

I met Ron for the first time at the beginning of This Is Us. It was a magical moment when we all felt like being shot from a cannon. He was steady and grateful, even when the chaos swirled all around us.
He was a big fan of actors.

He loved his daughter.

We all loved him. We all loved him.
