We all love and know Nicole Kidman, an award-winning actress. It feels like it was a long time ago that we all remember her marriage to Tom Cruise. Many people are puzzled as to why Isabella Cruise refuses to talk to her mother. The movie star's mother and daughter relationship is one that should be a blockbuster.
Isabella Cruise Was Born Into Scientology
Cruise and Kidman met while filming Days of Thunder in 1989. A little over a year later, they were married. Kidman was determined to have children immediately, but she had an ectopic pregnancy that led to a tragic miscarriage. After this trauma Kidman and Cruise decided that they wanted to adopt to increase their family.
Cruise is not only a devoted Scientologist but also one of the most respected Scientologists worldwide. Kidman and Cruise decided to adopt their children Isabella Jane, who was born in 1992, and Connor Anthony, who was born 1995 through the Church of Scientology.
Nicole Kidman Left Scientology
A little history: Kidman was raised in a Catholic family. She was actually so religious that she even considered joining a convent. Her father, Dr. Antony Kidman was also a well-known psychologist. Kidman's religious background was very opposed to the ideals of Scientology.
Scientology members can reach different Operating Thetan levels, or "OT" in Scientology. This is similar to getting different belts for karate, but instead of donating money to the Church. These high ranks were achieved by Kidman. Tony Ortega, the leading Scientology journalist in the world, said that Kidman actually took Scientology courses. She was truly committed... she did Scientology full-time for two years straight."
Kidman started to doubt the faith's beliefs and rules, despite her initial commitment to the church. Scientologists should not associate with psychologists such as her father, according to the church. Kidman, however, began to distance herself from the church. She publicly declared that she no longer believed in Scientology in 1997.
Their Children Choose to Cruise in the Divorce
Cruise filed for divorce in 2001. She cited "irreconcilable disagreements." Cruise's children chose to remain with Cruise over their mother.
Kidman married Keith Urban, a country singer. They have two daughters. Kidman is very private about her older children. She stated to WHO that she knew 150% that she would give my life for my kids because that's my purpose." When she was asked how she felt about her children choosing to remain in the Church she rejected publicly, she replied, "They are able to decide their own fates." They made their own choices and it is my responsibility to love them.
Why Bella isn't allowed to speak with Kidman
But, Kidman's and Bella's relationship doesn't end at a family rift. Scientology's strict laws forbid Bella from relating with her mother. Defectors of the religion are called "SP"s, or "Suppressive Peoples."
According to Scientology's official website: "A Supressive Person (SP) is someone who seeks out to suppress others in their immediate vicinity." SPs will vilify or goof up any attempt to help anyone and especially knife with violence anything that can make human beings stronger or smarter. This condition will last until the person is restored to good standing." Scientology treats becoming an SP and leaving the church very seriously. Bella also takes it seriously.
Leah Remini, an actress, is one of few Scientology defectors who has been willing to endure the church's abuses in order to speak out against them. Remini, in her book Troublemaker, Surviving Hollywood, Scientology, recalls Bella asking if she had seen her mother recently. Bella replied, "Not if you have a choice." Our mom is a f*cking SP.
