Catelynn Baltierra and Tyler Baltierra, "Teen Mom OG", had a very important conversation last night with Nova, their 6-year-old daughter. They discussed why they adopted Carly 12 years ago.

Nova is now in a place where questions are starting to surface.

Tyler and Catelynn recorded Nova a video message on Tuesday to celebrate Carly's 12th Birthday. Catelynn commented that Nova and Carly looked "a lot alike" after they had noted the similarities.

Nova said "You were a bit younger," commenting on Nova's comments about Nova's age when she had their first child. Nova exclaimed, “Oh man! That's not cool!” "Why did God do that to me?"

Tyler said that "we didn't make very wise choices", before Catelynn stated that Tyler and Catelynn "weren’t very smart when they were younger."

"Since your baby stuff was not available, you gave it away to the people you care about." Nova asked Nova why Carly was being put up for adoption.

Tyler explained that they couldn't have a baby because of this. "They had baby stuff, and they hoped for a baby so badly that they couldn't have one." Nova seemed to understand and told her parents that she had given the baby to them so they were happy.

Then, Nova asked Typer if he was proud of Catelynn's choice. He replied that he was. Nova wondered if the two had wanted children when she was her age. Catelynn stated that she had always wanted babies, but Nova said that Tyler is now a better father after having children.

The parents spoke separately about the matter after the conversation. They believed Nova's explanation was "pretty good."

"The crazy thing is that next year Carly will be 13. We met at 13. We met at 13. He exclaimed, saying that Carly's birthdays put them in a funk each year. He explained that "the day they're born you're not involved as birth parents... it's strange."

The episode ended with Teresa and Brandon sending a text to the pair, asking them to meet up over the holiday weekend. This was their first time meeting up in person in two years. Tyler and Catelynn were also present.
